Manon, aka DogMa, owner and operator of MapleMyst, has been active in dog sports and training for much of her adult life and has run an in-home breeding kennel since 2011, when Mysti joined the family and became the kennel’s namesake. In early 2015, MapleMyst welcomed its inaugural litter, which included Kiire who lives at MapleMyst and still competes in Agility. “Breeding was always part of my plans,” Manon says, “but the time was never quite right, and I had to find the perfect breed, one that I would enjoy working with for years. When I found the Lappy, I found a healthy, robust, fun-loving medium-sized dog, and then I knew the time was right”.
Manon has been training and competing with her dogs in conformation, agility, ratting, disc, sprinter and other events for close to 20 years. She brings her unique perspective to the work she does as the owner/operator of MapleMyst Finnish Lapphunds. Puppy health, wellness and development is front-and-centre and Manon’s foundational training skills help prepare MapleMyst pups for a happy and well-adapted life. Manon remains in contact with her puppy families, and is available to provide support and guidance throughout each dog’s life with their families, often arranging get togethers for families to gather and share in their love of the breed.
Manon is a member of the Finnish Lapphund Club of Canada, the Canadian Kennel Club, the Agility Association of Canada, and other organizations dedicated to the health and well-being of dogs in general, and the Finnish Lapphund breed in particular. MapleMyst boasts over 30 show and performance Champions and Grand Champions, as well as 3 Best-in-Show Winners (bred and/or owned).
In the human world, Manon works in the field of Human Resources and Learning and is looking to the future, when she will be able to dedicate more time to her kennel and to her favorite breed.
